This Beautiful Hiking Trail Will Make You Feel Like You’re in Another World

Local Things To Do

This trail is well shaded, creating this amazing mossy-world of lush green life.  The terrain is rugged, making it feel fun and adventurous (wear some solid shoes!), while the 2 KM hiking distance makes it a fairly short excursion.

Your final destination is the Hoffman Ring Kiln; large structures made of sandstone which are now covered in moss and ferns.  This kiln was used to burn dolostone to create lime in the 1800’s.

The Ring Kiln Side Trail is in Caledon near the Forks of the Credit and branches off from the Bruce Trail. Park alongside Forks of the Credit Road and follow the white marks along Chisholm Street.  After you cross the railroad tracks, you will turn right to take the blue-blazed Ring Kiln Side Trail.

Once you’ve explored the kiln ruins, you can back track to your vehicle.  If you want to extend your hike, head on the trail towards Caledon Mountain Drive.

As you get closer, you will find a staircase at the base of the Devil’s Pulpit, a towering 35-foot cliff. A rope is there to assist you up the steep, stone staircase.

Once you’re done enjoying the views from the top, retrace your steps back to Forks of the Credit Road.  For more information on the Ring Kiln Side Trail visit the BruceTrail.org.
